U.S. Indigenous Data Sovereignty Network

Sponsor the Summit 2026

The 2026 Summit will build upon the knowledge and conversations initiated in the inaugural 2024 Summit in Tucson. As the first ever IDSov/IDGov Summit in the US, the 2024 Summit was a historic gathering of more than 450 attendees in-person and another 200 online. We hosted over 50 oral presentations, 18 roundtable discussions, nine lightning talks, and six “unconference” sessions that focused on our stories of data practices, solutions, and challenges.

In 2026, we will convene more than 500 tribal leaders, Indigenous community members, academics, policy experts, and other data actors and rights-holders from across the US for four full days of engagement, education, and networking in Arizona.

Indigenous Peoples in the US have a long history of taking sovereign action to protect and steward their data, knowledges, cultural heritage, specimens, and relatives. The Indigenous Data Sovereignty movement upholds the rights of Indigenous Peoples in the exercise of their collective authority to fulfil the distinct, relational responsibilities entrusted to them by past generations.
