Tribal Colleges & Universities Decolonizing Data Visualization For Campus Data Literacy

Delphina Thomas

Two tribal colleges and universities (TCUs) in the “Cultivating Native Student Success” initiative through the American Indian College Fund will share their unique, cultural, key enrollment indicators (KEIs) and how they are decolonizing data visualization to promote data literacy across campuses. The purpose of creating their own cultural KEIs and benchmarking data is to highlight and acknowledge the specific needs of their Native students as well as focusing on increasing areas around enrollment, persistence, graduation and retention. These TCUs will provide examples of how they implemented data visualization using their culture to make data more digestible and accessible to increase campus data literacy.
