This presentation explores the benefits, risks, and threats to Tribal Knowledge Sovereignty through the use of cloud-based computing (e.g., servers for storage/archiving such as AWS, smartphones, cloud-based cameras/camcorders, content management systems such as Mukurtu) for Tribal community memory keeping. Dr. Alycia de Mesa explores Tribal digital ecosystems for community memory keeping as it pertains to certain cloud-based computing and associated technology platforms and hardware, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, AWS, smartphones, Mukurtu, etc. She then speaks to potential privacy and intellectual property risks for Tribal Knowledge Sovereignty for Tribes to consider. This presentation is designed for Tribal members and leaders including educators and Traditional Knowledge and Culture keepers.
